The 2024 ABSA Cup final is on May 12 at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka pitting Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe and Kabwe Warriors trainer Mumamba Numba. So what’s the duo's competition profile like?
To start with, Arrows are seeking their second ABSA Cup title while Warriors are gunning for their first in what is the latter’s debut final appearance despite their rich knockout competition history.
NUMBA
Numba is a one-time ABSA Cup winner, then known as the Barclays Cup, after leading Zanaco to their debut triumph in 2017 just a season after he lost 1-0 in the 2016 final to record six-time winners Zesco United.
He was runner-up again in 2019, again losing to Zesco, and later lost at the same stage as Zesco coach in the 2021 final to Lusaka Dynamos.
CHISI
Mbewe on the other hand has tasted one final- finishing second to Napsa Stars in 2022.
That final saw Arrows denied the prospect of a season double.
Mbewe was a quarterfinalist in 2023.
Mbewe has been at the helm since 2018 when he was initially in interim charge after Honor Janza was sidelined in July of that season.
