Zambia midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu briefly reflects on the ten-day Saudi Arabia camp and the final countdown to the 2023 AFCON.
Chipolopolo is heading to Cote d'Ivoire today at the end of their training camp in the Saudi Arabian city of Taif.
"Camp went well and we are ready for the AFCON. The draw against Cameroon in Tuesday's friendly and also not forgetting how we did in the qualifiers I believe have given us a boost to do well at AFCON. And this will be my first AFCON, “Kapumbu said.
Chipolopolo drew 1-1 with Cameroon on Tuesday in Jeddah.
Kapumbu is one of nine home-based players in the 27-member Chipolopolo team.
In addition, 23 players will be making their AFCON debuts with two Roderick Kabwe and Lubambo Musonda returning for the second time since Chipolopolo's last appearance in 2015.
2012 AFCON winner and defender Stopilla Sunzu, who was not selected for the 2015 tournament, is heading for his fourth tour of duty.
"The AFCON is also an opportunity for some of us local players to showcase what we can do and to get a big break," Kapumbu said who captained Chipolopolo B at the 2023 COSAFA Cup that Zambia retained last July in South Africa.
