KUNDA REFLECTS ON DEBUT CHIPOLOPOLO CALL-UP
Defender Warren Kunda is not taking his debut Chipolopolo Zambia call-up for granted and hopes he will do enough to earn a dream start at the 2022 COSAFA Cup in South Africa.
The Green Eagles defender was a surprise name on the 23-member list Aljosa Asanovic summoned for Chipolopolo’s home-based teams tight July calendar of competitive fixture action.
"I have settled in well and was received with open arms by everyone," Kunda said.
"I am very happy to be here and I am really grateful for this opportunity and I will just keep working hard.
"Competition is always there in any team and all I need to do is hard work- that is my message."
The veteran defender has been Eagles’ pillar at the back since joining the provincial club in 2016 after two seasons with Mighty Mufulira Wanderers where he quietly flourished following a difficult stint at record 13-time Zambian champions Nkana.
Meanwhile, Chipolopolo start their July assignments with the 2022 COSAFA Cup that is currently running in Durban, South Africa from July 5-17.
But Chipolopolo will enter the tournament at the quarterfinal stage on July 12.
Chipolopolo were handed a group stage bye together with six other top ranked sides that include guest team Senegal plus hosts and defending champions South Africa.
