UGANDA HAND JANZA NIGHTMARE DEBUT

Ex- Zambia boss Honour Janza will not have the dream debut he wanted as Taifa Stars Tanzania coach after Uganda handed him a nightmare start to his reign.
Tanzania fell to a humbling 3-0 away defeat in Kampala on Saturday in their 2022 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) last round, final leg qualifier to bow out 4-0 on aggregate.
Taifa Stars’ defeat came five days after Janza was appointed interim Tanzania.
The Zambian got the job 24 hours after Uganda beat the Taifa Stars 1-0 away in Dar es Salaam through a Travis Mutaba 88th minute goal.
That first leg home loss cost Kim Poulsen of Denmark the job and Janza was swiftly appointed to the post.
Before his appointment, Janza was just entering his first full season with Tanzanian club Namungo who hired him last December.
In Saturday’s game in Kampala, a 16th minute Moses Waiswa penalty gave Uganda a one-nil halftime lead.
Richard Basangwa and Rogers Mato added to the score line in the 54th and 75th minutes respectively to deny Tanzania back-to-back CHAN qualification.
Uganda on the other hand head for the sixth successive CHAN
CHAN is a second-tier AFCON exclusively for domestic league-based players.
The result also denied Janza a spot in Zambian football history.
Janza was hoping to become the second Zambian coach to qualify a foreign national team for a continental championship since the late Ben Bamfuchile did so with Namibia in 2007.
Bamfuchile guided The Brave Warriors Namibia to the 2008 AFCON where The Brave Warriors made their second tournament appearance since 1998.
Meanwhile, the East African derby grudge showdown is not over.
Tanzania and Uganda meet again next March in Group F of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
Both sides are in the bottom two of Group F with a point each, Niger is second on 2 points and Algeria leads on 6 points after two rounds played.
Uganda will be home on March 30 and four days later visit Tanzania.
